Zuckerberg Wants To Make Facebook Great Again | AI Content Creation: The Process For High-Quality, SEO-Friendly Articles | Meta Begins Test Of Ads On Threads + More!
I've been thinking a lot about the clients I work with and why they work with me.
A lot of smaller businesses don't realize it, but they are often limiting the scope of their digital marketing to the staff that they employ.
Let me explain.
Often smaller businesses have a skeleton marketing department which has one decision maker sometimes accompanied by various assistants.
What I find is that these marketing decision makers often base their decisions as to what marketing channels they will invest in based on what has worked in the past for them and/or what they personally use (when it comes to social media).
The problem is that 1) digital marketing and its algorithms are always in flux, 2) people's content consumption and purchasing habits are also always in flux (with the exception of a few brands they are loyal to), and 3) without experimenting and looking at the data, you won't know what works and what doesn't.
While agencies try to sell you on services, as a Fractional CMO I sell my clients on knowledge and creating a systematic, data-driven process that leaves no digital marketing stone unturned.
If you'd like to know more about how I work with clients, you don't even need to hire me: I unveil all of my thoughts, strategies and process in Digital Threads. For a low cost and a small investment in time you can tap into my brain and learn something that might both save you marketing money and generate more business for you!

Meta has officially started testing ads on Threadshttps://www.jonloomer.com/qvt/meta-begins-test-of-ads-on-threads/, rolling out image-based ads to a limited number of users and advertisers. While the full-scale launch timeline is unclear, this marks a major step toward monetizing the platform. For advertisers, this could mean more ad placements and potentially lower costs. However, Meta must balance ad integration with user experience, as some users may resist the change. If you’re in digital marketing, this is a development worth watching!
DeepSeek just shook up the AI world by releasing open-source models that rival OpenAI, Meta, and Google—at a fraction of the cost. This unexpected leap has sparked concern in Silicon Valley and Washington, raising questions about the U.S.'s AI strategy. While DeepSeek’s rapid progress is impressive, doubts remain about its methods, accuracy, and potential IP violations. Could this be AI’s “Sputnik moment”? If you follow AI, this is a story you can’t ignore.
The U.S. Copyright Office just clarified a key AI legal question: AI-generated works can be copyrighted—but only if a human meaningfully edits or modifies them. Simple prompts aren’t enough, and purely AI-created works remain ineligible. This ruling has big implications for creatives, businesses, and legal battles over AI content ownership. With more guidance coming soon, this is a must-watch issue for anyone using AI in their work.
Mark Zuckerberg wants to take Facebook “back to the OG days,” aiming to make it more culturally relevant and engaging. While he hasn’t shared specifics, he’s prioritizing major product changes over short-term business gains. Whether this means a return to a more personal, community-driven experience or something else entirely remains unclear. With Facebook still central to billions, any shift could have big ripple effects across social media. Stay tuned—this could get interesting!

Neal Schaffer January 24, 2025 Hey Reader, I had a pre-sales call with a small business yesterday that is in the B2B space and thus focusing solely on LinkedIn as their strategic digital marketing channel. While their intention is spot-on, they still were confused as to why their LinkedIn Company Page posts weren't getting traction. Or the myriad of LinkedIn ad format and targeting options they had. People were signing up to their webinars but they weren't generating leads. They were...
Neal Schaffer January 19, 2025 Hey Reader, While I was in Japan this past week, the news has been dominated by TikTok. Due to the timing of this newsletter, we now know that TikTok has been officially banned in the United States, and it is not appearing in the app store anymore. If you have the TikTok app you can still view your content and feed, but you cannot post or see any new content. Something I did not know is that CapCut, which is also owned by TikTok's owner, ByteDance, is in the...
Neal Schaffer January 11, 2025 Hey Reader, Hope you had a great start to the new year! I am actually at the airport on my way to Japan for a quick business trip, but wanted to make sure I get this out before I leave. For those of you who don't know, I live in Southern California, and it is sad sitting at the Los Angeles Airport and seeing all of the smoke billowing into the grey air above the mountains. My home in Orange County is quite removed from the fires, but we had our own experience...
