LinkedIn posts carrying an external link in the caption now take a measurable distribution hit
When it comes to AI workers, the gap between prompting and delegating is where the leverage sits.
Hey Reader,
I keep having a version of the same conversation.
I get on a call with a business that is genuinely doing well. Customers refer their own family members. A long-time client sends people constantly. Local partners recommend them without ever being asked. The proof of their success is everywhere, and all of it is real.
Then I ask a simple question: is any of that on your website?
The answer is almost always no. It lives in conversations. In someone's inbox. In the head of the one person who has been there long enough to remember.
Here's the thing, though: that used to be a missed opportunity. Now it is a structural problem. AI answers get assembled from what has been written down and published online, which means a story told in a hallway cannot be cited by anyone. Neither can a testimonial sitting in a text thread, or a referral that never made it past a phone call. If it is not published, it does not exist as far as any model is concerned.
So we go buy traffic. We write more content. Meanwhile the strongest asset we own, the actual evidence that people trust us, stays where nobody can find it.
I think most of us are running this play without realizing it. I know I have.
So my question this week: what is the best proof you have that has never made it onto your site? Hit reply and tell me, and let's figure out a way to get that information online for all to see.
Now let's get into this week's updates.

This Week's News
How To Build AI Employees To Get Work Off Your Plate - Most AI advice stops at better prompting. This goes further, into building AI workers that run parts of your business on a schedule while you do something else. Callan Faulkner's company is on pace for roughly $40 million in revenue with about 50 people, and she walks through the actual mechanics: a business brain knowledge base, skills that encode your standards, and scheduled autonomous tasks. The gap between prompting and delegating is where the leverage sits. Pick one task you resent doing weekly and build that worker first. Social Media Examiner
The LinkedIn Link Tax: Why Sharing Your Blog Is Costing You 60 Percent Of Your Audience - Your LinkedIn reach problem may not be your content. Posts carrying an external link in the caption now take a measurable distribution hit, and research across 1.3 million posts puts the median reduction at 18.8 percent. The first-comment workaround stopped working in early 2026. Document carousels currently top the engagement table, and LinkedIn articles and newsletters carry no link penalty at all because readers never leave the platform. Keep linking out of your feed posts and you will keep paying a tax nobody told you about. Agility PR
AEO vs GEO: What 486,000 AI Impressions In 90 Days Actually Taught Me - Google showed my site inside its AI features 486,000 times in three months, so I went looking for what that traffic was actually worth. The answer was humbling. One click for every 660 impressions. My most-visible post pulled 468,000 impressions and delivered 23 clicks at an average position of 8.3. Google files those clicks in with ordinary organic traffic and marks nothing, which is exactly why nobody can settle the AEO versus GEO argument. The numbers are the argument, and mine are all in the post. Neal Schaffer
Has Google Demoted Listicles? - Everyone told you Google killed the listicle. Kevin Indig ran 60,000 queries against 5.32 million result rows and found close to the opposite. Top-three listicle presence slipped from roughly 38 percent in January to 33 percent in August, a trim rather than a purge, and 62 percent of vendor listicles actually gained organic traffic with a median gain of 38 percent. The real threat sits somewhere else entirely. 93.4 percent of B2B listicle queries now trigger AI Overviews, so you can hold your ranking and still lose the visit. Growth-Memo
How To Get Subscribers On YouTube: What Works, And What My Own Analytics Say About The Number - I have 7,453 YouTube subscribers, and I went into my own analytics to find out what they actually deliver. Subscribers accounted for 3.2 percent of my watch time over the past year. Notifications drove 30 long-form views across twelve months. Net new subscribers for the whole year came to 29. I still think the subscribe button matters, just not for the reason most creators assume, and once you see where the views really come from you will stop optimizing for the wrong number. I just started using LinkBoss, and I have to say—I’m really impressed. If internal linking is one of those SEO tasks you know you should be doing more of, LinkBoss makes it so much easier to find smart, relevant opportunities without all the manual digging. Give it a try with a free 7-day trial and see why I’m already recommending it.
How To Build An AI Content System That Works - If your AI content still needs heavy editing, the tool is probably not the problem. Tania Brown spent months building a pipeline in Claude Code that gets pieces to roughly 95 percent of publication-ready, and she shares the whole architecture: an orchestrator, a researcher, an outliner, a writer, then three separate editors. The detail worth stealing is that splitting one editor into two, one for structure and one for AI tells, beat asking a single context to fix everything at once. Worth building if you publish weekly. AI Mode Queries Are 3X Longer: Why Your Page Should Lead With The Answer - People do not type fragments into AI Mode. They ask whole questions, and a year of data shows the average query running three times longer than a traditional search. That changes where your answer belongs on the page. The narrative build, context first and payoff at the end, is exactly wrong for a system scanning for a direct response. Greg Jarboe sorts the behavior into five distinct modes and makes the case for the inverted pyramid. How many of your pages bury the answer below the fold? Search Engine Journal
AI Impact On Website Traffic: 2026 Report - Finally, some numbers to argue with instead of anecdotes. Evan Bailyn's team looked at 3.4 billion sessions across 218 sites in 12 industries and isolated what AI actually did to traffic. AI platforms climbed from 0.1 percent of sessions to 6.2 percent. Media and publishing absorbed the worst organic decline at 47.3 percent, while local services lost only 6.8. The part your CFO will care about: ChatGPT visitors convert to leads at 4.7 percent against 1.9 percent for Google organic. Organic volume is shrinking while AI-referred intent is climbing, and that trade is now measurable enough to plan around. First Page Sage
LinkedIn Newsletters In 2026: What I Learned From Studying The 50 Biggest - If you have been sizing the LinkedIn newsletter opportunity from public subscriber counts, you have been working from the wrong denominator. Melanie Goodman pulled live data on the fifty biggest and found the published numbers badly understate reality. One newsletter listed at 7.4 million actually showed over 11.5 million subscribers. Gates Notes lists 2.3 million and shows more than 6.5 million. She also reverse-engineered the title formula that the top performers share. Published numbers describe the floor, not the ceiling. Melanie Goodman
The Great AI Productivity Boom (Your Customers Will Never Feel) - Your agents are faster, your tickets close quicker, your dashboards look excellent. CSAT and retention have not moved. Ricardo Saltz Gulko argues that internal AI efficiency and customer experience have quietly decoupled, which is uncomfortable reading if you have spent the year reporting productivity gains upward. The wins may be invisible to the only people whose opinion converts. Check whether your AI reporting measures anything a customer can actually feel before your next quarterly review lands. CMS Wire
